Tooth replacement that is nothing to fear!
Denture options look, feel, and function like natural teeth
We are No Fear Dentistry in much more than just our name. Our Madison and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin teams provide a judgment-free zone. We understand that many patients avoid necessary dental care due to fear or apprehension about visiting the dentist, and we want to change the way our nervous patients view dentistry as a whole. We also understand that many individuals may be holding on to aching, broken, and badly damaged teeth due to fears caused by common dental triggers, bad experiences in childhood or at other dentists’ offices, or concerns about how to pay for their much-needed care.
Dentures to the rescue!
We are here for you. Led by Dr. David Ducommun and our associates, we strive to preserve one’s natural smile. However, for teeth that cannot be preserved with painless root canal therapy, our dentists may recommend partial or complete (full) dentures.
Generally, both types of dentures use dental materials and frameworks to replace missing or failing teeth. These materials are perfectly shaped and customized to fit your mouth’s unique contours and complement the features of your smile and face. The dentures planned and placed by our teams do not look like yesterday’s fake or plastic “false teeth.” The highest-quality acrylics or ceramics are used to create prosthetic teeth and gum tissue that naturally replicates the aesthetics of natural teeth.
Furthermore, due to advanced diagnostics and planning, these appliances fit optimally. So, concerns over loose or uncomfortable dentures that tend to slide around at the most embarrassing or inconvenient of times are minimized.
Following a thorough evaluation and in consultation with you, we may recommend:
- Partial dentures – Appropriate for individuals with some remaining healthy teeth, partial dentures consist of the prosthetic tooth structure and gum tissue that “sit” on a framework that attaches to the neighboring natural teeth.
- Complete or full dentures – Appropriate for individuals with no remaining teeth in the upper or lower dental arch or who face the complete loss or extraction of all their teeth. The prosthetic teeth sit on a denture base that replicates the structure and appearance of the patient’s gums. Since there are no remaining teeth for the denture to attach to, it is held in place by natural suction or with the help of aids such as denture adhesive.
No Fear Dentistry also provides another option for increased denture comfort: dental implants. The implant is but one part of this innovative form of tooth replacement. It replaces the root of the tooth. Once stabilized in the jaw, the implant can then optimally secure the prosthetic tooth in place. One implant may be secured in the jawbone to stabilize a single replacement tooth (or crown), or as few as four implants can hold an entire upper or lower denture in place. Each option can be discussed to fit the needs of our patient to make their life easier.
